There has been a growing trend of MSM articles, government ‘experts,’ alternative and social media postings regarding the potential of a massive and prolonged power outage. Much of the rhetoric is tied to the idea of a massive cyberattack.

This article seeks to better understand the possibility of this scenario by examining vulnerabilities, and multiple lines of evidence to attempt to arrive at some form of predictive analysis regarding the following: Will a major cyberattack cripple the electric grid?
